HAPPY NEW YEAR

On January 16. that familiar “third Tuesday of the odd month,”  our first membership meeting for 2024 will introduce the newly elected officers of the Board of Directors.

Tuesday, Jan. 16 – 6:30 pm

at our new home, ProArts Playhouse

Azeka Makai,  1280 S. Kihei Road

The focus is on Major Housing Developments in South Maui.

We will look into three of the larger housing projects in Kīhei that are currently in progress, hopefully targeting our current residents:

Hale o Pi‘ikea (100% affordable housing on Pi‘ikea)

This is a three phase project and the first phase is already under construction. This is on the South side of Pi‘ikea, split off from the long planned development “Downtown Kihei” from Krausz on the North side that we have been examining for about two decades:

Liloa Hale (100% affordable senior housing next to Hope Chapel)

This one is currently requesting a two year extension of their SMA permit from the Maui Planning Commission, advising they need additional time for the needed funding. While not directly related to this project, the developer Highridge Costa was selected as the master developer for 10,000  affordable rental units across Hawai‘i.  We first examined this project in 2019:

After presentations by representatives of the developers there will be an opportunity to ask questions.

As always, we will be collecting donations for the MAUI FOOD BANK.  They can stretch a dollar like no one else so checks sealed in envelopes are also welcome.
