7/17/18 #kihei TODAY IS THE DAY- BE THERE
7/10/18 #kihei
Is there anyone anywhere who is NOT aware that Tuesday at 6:30 PM, July 17 is this month’s General Membership meeting, which is a candidates’ forum for the Aug 11 primary election? What, you say there is that one guy!!
OK, for him, and any other community members, we will have a total of seven candidates running for the State Legislature. For the District 11 House Seat which is vacated by Kaniela Ing, we have Don Couch, Lee Myrick and Tina Wildberger on the Democratic ballot, and Daniel Kanahele as a Non Partisan. For Senate District 6 we have two Democrats: incumbent Roz Baker, challenged by Terez Amato. For the Green party, we have Melissah Shishido. NOTE: We recommend checking Civil Beat – https://www.civilbeat.org/ – for July 10, for Q & A with two of the three senate candidates. But we do note they state all three candidates are Democrats, but our records show 2 of 3 are.
We will be setting up the room at St. Theresa hall, Lipoa & South Kihei Road, a bit before 6:00 PM, and we expect many candidates, those participating and candidates for other races, will be there early, so if you want to talk story with them, this is a great opportunity. But be sure you are seated for the forum, as we will start right at 6:30 PM.
Support for our continuous drive for all those generous Maui Food Bank donations of nourishing non-perishable food to feed our “community in need” is strongly encouraged. So gather up some cans of tuna, beans, fruit and veggies and head on down on Tuesday evening. We’ll see you there.
