It has been nearly three years since we switched to virtual on line general membership meetings. Presentations by newly elected government officials concerning pressing community concerns, a report from the Community Plan Advisory Committee (CPAC) on the status of the long overdue update of the 1998 Kihei Makena Community Plan, and the opportunity to meet in person again, resulted in a packed house (unofficial count 163) at St Theresa’s hall last Tuesday evening.

The meeting commenced with a video submitted by Terez Amato, our State representative. She had planned to fly over from the Capitol but was bogged down with committee hearings there, so we compromised with a recording made Tuesday morning about the many bills Rep Amato has been working on in this legislative session.

This was followed by Rob Weltman,  educating our audience on the update process of  the South Maui Community Plan.

Rob was followed by County Council Member Tom Cook, and Mayor Richard Bissen.

The large audience was reflected in our Maui Food Bank d0nations with well over 100 lbs of nutritious food products.
