Some may say we need a study of how to prevent wildfires and how to keep them from causing the extreme damage of the Lāhainā wildfire this month. Kīhei is exposed to many of the same conditions and threats as Lāhainā. There are definitely things to learn from the Lāhainā fire, but the fact is that valuable studies have already been done and published. The problem is that their recommendations have not been implemented. Here are a few studies worth looking into (and implementing their proposals):
