Just north of the Whale Sanctuary on South Kihei Road (SKR), heading north, the speed limit is posted down from 30 to 10 MPH. As you approach the “temporary bridge” over the Kulanihako’i stream, it increases back to 30 MPH at Ka’ono’ulu and the Hilton time share.

Speed limit increase by the crosswalk north of Ka’ono’ulu

There is a crosswalk across SKR there used by the community to reach Kalepolepo beach by the nearby residents

A three vehicle collision on S. Kihei Rd. just north of Ka’ono’ulu Wednesday afternoon

Continuing north, the road divides and a signalized crosswalk is established primarily for the time share customers to access the beach and their bar & grill makai of the roadway.

Increasing the speed limit as you approach an intersection that has a marked crosswalk is not a good plan.

This can be the result of poor planning and sometimes poor driving.

This is the end of this event this time here, but there will be more.
