10/21/16 — Yesterday morning the group meeting commenced with 4/5 of the organizations, absent Maalaea. Topics included transportation, with much focus of the new Maui Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO); Ahihi-Kinau Reserve changes, including paved fee’d parking lot, eliminating tobacco & alcohol, campaign to eliminate sunscreen use of oxybenzone contaminated product and the upcoming public meeting on 11/10/16, 6 PM at KCC; marine water quality near Cove Park and MECO potential actions concerning revisiting overhead transmission line towers along the Pi’ilani Hwy. and the undersea electric cable from Maalaea to Oahu. The agreed action item was a unified presentation to the MPO in December concerning So. Maui transportation needs.
First meeting of 2017 is tentatively set for January 19
