What do you know about the Maui County Charter? Why was it created and how is this document updated and improved? Who makes additions, deletions and modifications? Are you aware that the current 2021 version is available on this site? SEE: https://www.mauicounty.gov/DocumentCenter/View/126103/Charter-2021-Edition
Our general membership meeting Tuesday, May 18, has the honor of hearing from the current chair of the County Charter Commission, attorney Lance Collins. His commission follows a prescribed process to evaluate the charter, something that occurs only once a decade.
A huge part of the commission’s mission is to receive input from the community which they have been doing twice a month on Thursdays. It so happens that their meeting on May 20 is specifically directed to our region for comments. Our members and the S. Maui community have a unique opportunity to learn about the process at our May 18th meeting, and then two days later offer testimony to the full commission. You can do all this from home on your preferred device. Take the first step on Tuesday 5/18, at 6:30 pm.
We remind everyone to remember the Maui Food Bank with donations. Even though we were forced to go virtual for our meetings, thus no MFB collection drum by the door, our perpetual drive continues. Drop off nutritious non-perishable products at any of their drop off locations, or mail them a check. Contact MFB at https://mauifoodbank.org
