1/19/17 This morning your Community Association’s Design Review Committee (DRC) welcomed representatives of the Kamaole Grand Condo Project. While the address is 2455 South Kihei Road (SKR), that is just a controversial proposed egress to the seven-building, 217-unit condo project which would be located between SKR and the newly opened Liloa Drive.
New 2017 DRC chair Randy Wagner welcomed the largest contingent of six representative entities for any project we can recall, as their eight individuals almost matched our nine committee members.
Led by Jordan Hart of Chris Hart & Partners (CHP), an extensive PowerPoint presentation was offered to inform the DRC of numerous facets of the project. Several committee members were familiar with the project, since they were present at the presentation at the County’s UDRB meeting on 1/5/17 (see https://gokihei.org/news/another-new-condominium-project-proposed-for-south-maui-kamaole-grand).
The committee discussed many aspects ranging from traffic concerns to moving one of the seven proposed buildings. In between, improving the project name, pedestrian and bicycle access, ecological improvements, BMP’s (Best Management Practices) during construction and more.
Most likely the next activity will be the legally required public meeting which welcomes all entities within 500′ of the project, possibly in February. CHP will advise KCA when they send written notices to the adjacent land owners which we will of course broadcast on this website & Facebook. The numerous nearby owners beyond this limit, e.g. Manoa Estates residents who have communicated with us on the situation, will need to monitor this project, or they may miss the opportunity to have their voices heard.
Then probably late Spring, the project will go before the County Planning Commission some Tuesday morning.
