On Tuesday morning (4/14/15) KCA expressed continuing community support for the inclusion of sidewalks at the intersection of Ohukai and the Pi’ilani Hwy, which is presently being refurbished by HDOT in North Kihei . (See https://gokihei.org/environment/kca-testified-to-the-planning-commission-this-morning-31015 and https://gokihei.org/development-project-review/why-no-sidewalks-again-seems-all-talk-and-no-walk )
The major focus of the meeting was the “Orientation Workshop,” explaining the planning process, the divisions of the department and how the Planning Commission fits into the overall process, so after three guys offer ed public testimony, your two directors as well as a former one, the next couple of hours were devoted to this segment. Thus we ran out of time before our item was brought up on the agenda.
Fortunately Akaku, Maui Community Television, CH 53, was on scene taping, so we will look forward to viewing the discussions, deliberations and the Commissioners’ decision. Stay tuned. ***AS IT GOES, THE ITEM WAS DEFERRED TO 4/28/15 MEETING
