DLNR DIRECTOR “BILL” AILA LISTENS TO MAUI

For two hours on a Saturday afternoon, Maui had the opportunity to publicly address DLNR Chair Aila for a one on one exchange on any relevant issue concerning his department. While this afternoon session in Kahului was preceeded by a monrning one in Lahaina, this being much closer to Kihei, several residents attened and participated in the unusual event.

SMV and KCA VOLUNTEERS WORK AT AT KAM III 9/12/11

South Maui Volunteers and the KCA had an exceptional workday at Kamaole Beach Park 3 on Monday Sept. 12. With the south swells Kihei has been experiencing this summer we have had some seasonal erosion along our beaches. This was heavy at Kamaole 3 and a few of our beach pathways have lost sand and elevation. We have installed sand bag steps as a temporary measure until the sand returns....

How Fast Can You Build A Roundabout

While the proposed completion date is a year away, construction seems to be progressing quite quickly for Kihei’s first roundabout, coordinated with completion of the bike path along Liloa, at the intersection with Pi’Ikea. Unfortunately, while Maui County had the grand opening of the bike path in July, in fact the completed segments are still closed.
