As KCA has been deluged with requests and inquiries for information on the Hawaii State Land Use Commission hearing concerning a motion to show cause why the the area of North Kihei mauka the Pi’ilani Highway slated for development as two shopping centers by the Eclipse Company of Irvine , CA, should not revert to its former classification as agricultural, we are offering what information is available at this time  We will strive to offer updates, such as the meeting agenda, as they become available.

At this time, we have been advised by the LUC that the meeting is scheduled for Friday August 24 at the Royal Lahaina Resort’s Maui Ballroom, with a tentative start time of 9:00 AM. The commission will accept both oral and written testimony strictly pertaining to the agenda items, so we encourage those wishing to testify to examine what the LUC meeting concerns, by checking that website, http://luc.state.hi.us/. The lower portion of the home page lists addresses where written testimony may be submitted by US Mail and email. Whether oral or written, statements such as, “I want this project built because we need construction jobs, ” or “This mega mall is much too large for this area,” will be irrelevant, and possibly considered  out of order by the Commissioners. Stay tuned for updates.
