We expect anyone who is aware of the Kihei Community Association (KCA) knows what we are: a nearly-sixty-year-old all-volunteer, nonprofit, unfunded MEMBERSHIP organization. Like most other membership organizations, we are only as good as our membership. Without members there would be no organization.
During this trying and often tragic time, KCA continues fulfilling our mission and vision but we are forced to make changes. We had to cancel our general membership meeting last month and may have to do so again in May. Our ability to have a large number of timely posts on our website is hindered by emergency rules and regulations, but we still keep it up to date. Additionally, we have built up a stockpile of online resources, including links to a wide variety of organizations and documents which are important to our community.
The workload in maintaining an active organization which is supportive of our community continues despite the loss of in-person meetings. Our public meetings are where most of our members normally renew and where we get new members; without them some may find it difficult to renew or sign up. We are feeling that. The funds required to maintain the website and various other services we provide are greatly impacted by the loss of membership.
Subscribing to our free emailed newsletter is not the same as being a supporting member. Annual dues are required to be a member. The regular dues of $25 per year is low relative to other information services available such as newspapers or magazine subscriptions. A crucial difference is that the Kihei Community Association newsletter and website address local issues which immediately and directly affect the south Maui community. KCA also champions for our members and their concerns at town halls and at government meetings. For the timely local news and advocacy, KCA dues are a true value.
Please support KCA with your membership so we can continue to share important local issues with you and support projects which are for the betterment of our community. Please ask others to join, too, and help spread the word about the work we do for south Maui.
Due to the ongoing pandemic crisis, our $15 special rate is still being offered. We know these are difficult times and everyone must make choices. Let us know if you want to remain/become a member but have trouble with paying the dues. Take advantage of the reduced membership fee, while it lasts, by renewing or joining NOW.

But when people join you have the power to have them removed. You control all content and if it differs from yours you decide if they can be on committees or not. You have way too much control. I’ve lost faith and respect for this organization controlled solely by you.
