Mahalo to the Maui Bicycle League (MBL), the guys having the S Maui group ride this Saturday  https://gokihei.org/volunteer/south-maui-group-bicycle-ride-this-saturday-feb-21    for advocating for this signage. Mahalo to the County Department of Public Works (DPW) for acting on this recommendation and erecting the sign on the makai side of So Kihei Rd (SKR)  near 940.

Do you understand what this sign is requiring?

We had addressed this topic last month when we noted the first sign further South on SKR  https://gokihei.org/featured/state-of-hawaii-three-foot-law-do-you-observe-it-when-driving-experience-it-when-cycling

MBL asked if we had other suggested locations where we observed cyclists being “squeezed” by drivers, and we mentioned this area of Sharrow lanes  (Sharrows, or shared lane pavement markings, are bicycle symbols with chevrons painted on roadways to indicate a shared environment for motorists and cyclists. They guide cyclists away from “door zones” near parked cars and remind drivers to expect and share the lane with bicycles. These markings typically appear on roads lacking dedicated

bike lanes).  A few weeks later, we see the new sign!  Well done!
