10/28/19 KIHEI TRAFFIC JAMS! DANGEROUS WALKING! CAN’T RIDE BIKE SAFELY! BABY STROLLER BY TRACTOR TRAILER!

What is your concern about transportation safety? You have less than four days to speak your piece about the future of multimodal transportation. If you have not already submitted your comments, this Friday will be too late

DO NOT WAIT UNTIL OCTOBER 31 OR YOU MAY GET TRICKED!

You see that’s the cut-off date for input to the Maui Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) long range transportation plan.

If you had the opportunity a score years ago to make a transportation plan for the island, would what we have today be what you envisioned? Based on what we see and hear all the time, we expect the answer is NO. What the heck were they planning for? No safe route to walk or bicycle across Kihei? A highway where six people are killed within a single year? Rampant development of all description without supporting infrastructure? ? Well we can’t go back in time, but we can learn from historical mistakes as we plan for the next score years.

And YOU can have a part in that plan. See mauimpo.org/hele-mai-maui-2040.

But do not wake up November 1 and ask what happened!  Don’t wait until Halloween! Why not go to the website today and provide your ideas on what Maui needs in the way of transportation?
