Ka’ahumanu runs red with rage and passion this afternoon

4/11/17 #kihei We expected a large turnout  this afternoon, protesting the Mayor’s approval of 24/7/365 alcohol sales  without any community awareness or discussion. So seeing about sixty red-shirted volunteers lined up fronting the Queen Ka’ahumanu Center was a bit less than we expected. But the enthusiasm and coordination were apparent.

Continuous sales of alcohol beverages without interruption, approved by nine commissioners who are appointed by the mayor, and the mayor who approved this action, brought out a wide spectrum of opponents organized and alerted by the COALITION TO REPEAL 24 HOUR ALCOHOL SALES .

KCA had two directors in active support of a strong wahine showing in matching shirts stating their messages: call the Liquor Control commission 244-4660 (they are scheduled to meet tomorrow morning) and “Say NO to 24 hour liquor sales!”

With many Maui residents waving a wide variety of signs and flashing shakas, the late afternoon motor vehicle contingent, many departing the county government enclave, were certainly made aware. We had to wonder if our mayor was included.
