The Lokelani Intermediate School Student Council is working on a community service project that will create a space for public art. They want to transform the school into a place where students, teachers, artists, and the business community can work together to make the school more beautiful. They need to raise approximately $2000 dollars towards the purchase of paint rollers/brushes, paint, drop cloths, and other miscellaneous supplies.

The students have opened an account at Sherwin Williams in Kahului to purchase the paint. They have graciously agreed to let Lokelani School pick up the paint and pay as the school starts to receive funds.

They will be creating a large-scale mural designed by local Maui artist JoNerz (Johnathan Baldwin, see http://jonerz.squarespace.com/)

(2) Community Painting Days 
Hue is trying to manage the number of volunteers for the Community Painting Days, because there is only one person to manage and control the waste. Painting isn’t hard, but there is a little education on loading a roller and brushes.  We would love to see more kids paint with adult supervision.  Once we get to the top of the building for the sky, they will need more parents/adults/older kids to execute this section. 
 
If we have volunteers who have painted before, then we could execute the mural in no time!  The goal is to paint the mural by the end of May.
 
Once the mural is painted, the artist will spend the summer months to refine the mural by shading, highlighting, and defining the image. 
 
Community Painting Days have been scheduled for the following dates and times:
 
5/11 Thu 5-8:30 (wrapped up by 8:30) – Volunteers are covered.
5/16 Tues. 5-8:30 (wrapped up by 8:30) 10 volunteers tops
5/17 Wed. 5-8:30 (wrapped up by 8:30) 10 volunteers tops
5/21 Sun. 10-3 (wrapped up by 4) 10 volunteers tops
5/23 Tue. 5-8:30 (wrapped up by 8:30) 10 volunteers tops
5/24 Wed. 5-8:30 (wrapped up by 8:30) 10 volunteers tops
