Kicked off by project manager Richard Sylva, the meeting on 10/25/11, at “our” location at the Charter School, this knowledgible group examining South Maui’s Ahupua’a, brought out over fifty concerned residents for a power point presentation moderated by Robin Knox. It revealed all the results of their research to determine what is causing the flooding and erosion, and the resulting reef damage. Afterwards many attendee’s asked numerous question about the project, including how to control or at least lessen the flood damage.
A related topic, potential ways to mitigate future flooding events in this same area, concentraing on the largest single one, Kaonoulu, (by South end of Maui Lu resort,) will occur of 11/18/11 at 5:00 PM at the Whale Sanctuary. See details at other post of this site.
