Our monthly meetings, held on the third Tuesday of each month, have always been held in Kihei. However since the Public Utility Commission has scheduled their public hearing regarding  Maui Electric (MECO) rates and regulations for 6:00 PM on Oct. 18 at Maui Waena Intermediate School at 795 Onehee An Kahului (Mokulele Hwy across Dairy Rd  then left on Papa to Onehee; left on Onehee to school on left side), we are “moving” our meeting there to offer testimony regarding the proposed installation of those 70″ tall transmission lines across Kihei. We encourage everyone to attend this public meeting to advise the three commissioners your opinion of this proposed project.

It was reported in the Honolulu Star Advertisor that power lines in Honolulu were presently being installed underground for “island beautification,” and that the federal government was covering the vast majority of the cost. Why not in Kihei?

Our Maui Food Bank container will be outside the school doorway, so please remember to bring some non perishable food, as their neeed is dire.  Mahalo.
