THERE WILL BE A LIMITED NUMBER of KCA special edition “T” shirts available at this meeting. Once they are gone, they are gone! First arrivals, check at the welcome table.
With the upcoming general membership meeting approaching on Tuesday evening, 6;30 PM, we remind everyone of our continuing, never ending food drive, strongly advocating for generous non-perishable donations or checks for the Maui Food Bank. Bring yours to next Tuesday’s meeting.
This is a unique meeting focusing on a small region of North Kihei along the Kulanihakoi River gulch and Kaonoulu Road to examine a roundabout at that intersection, (NOT another red light back up!); a bridge on South Kihei Road (SKR), NOT a dam as a low lying box culvert to be flooded (a dam holds back a river flow until it overruns the top; a bridge allows water to flow under it) and a pedestrian/bicycle underpass under the highway giving safe passage to that school that may someday be built by the DOE. Makai access to the passage can come via a greenway extending down the river gulch to SKR. Also, depending on proposed development and potential area growth if intersections along Kaonoulu have to be updated due to volume, some roundabouts makai to mauka.
Our objective is progressive planning with this series of area projects, and we want to insure there is a holistic approach taken for the benefit of future generations in our community. Come listen to the information and voice your concerns, suggestions and ask questions.
But before we examine all of that we will have an update of the marine water quality study we commissioned early this year. This will not be a final published report, but an indication of what we might expect of that.
But even before that, the membership will vote for the 2018 KCA nominating committee who will interview candidates for next year’s board of directors. Are you one of those members? Still not a member? You let it lapse? Just zip over to that red button on the home page to sign up .
Our general membership meeting, open to the community beyond our members for no charge, as always third Tuesday of the month in the evening at 6:30 PM at 41 E Lipoa, the Kihei Charter Middle School.
Concerned about these issues? Jump on that green button and apply for our planning committee. If you do not do it, who will? Do you want someone else planning for you and your ohana? More info, call (508) 499-9996.
