WITH THE GRAND OPENING OF THE SECOND PHASE OF THE KIHEI BIKE PATH ON MONDAY, YOU GET FREE ICE CREAM! ITS HOT. ITS THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL YOU’RE AT THE COMMUNITY PARK. WHO COULD SAY NO TO FREE ICE CREAM?

Now that the blessing and celebration has been reset to Monday, August 1 at 3:00 PM, the opening day of school, everyone is welcome to participate, as the path’s new segment continues, although on the mauka side of Liloa, to our park entrance. The County Department of Public Works (DPW) has announced this event, which will be located at the southern end of the bikeway at the South Maui Regional Park. The blessing and dedication will be followed by (what else) a bike ride along the new segment to Liloa, with encouragement to continue onto the original phase extending northward to Waipuilani, and then returning to the park, a total distance of about 1.5 miles. From keiki to kupuna, all are welcome to participate, but ALL RIDERS ARE REQUIRED TO WEAR A HELMET AND ADHERE TO TRAFFIC SAFETY RULES.

The event will be a joint effort of the DPW, the Maui Bicycle League (MBL), the path constructors, Goodfellow Brothers (GFB) and the Kihei Community Association (KCA).

WHAT ABOUT THIS FREE ICE CREAM?

With a BIG mahalo to Brio Ice Cream, after the ride, free cups are available at the park- no cheating and getting one before the ride!
