The eleven member Maui County Charter Commission had their S. Maui meeting at the Kihei Community Center on Monday (7/25/11)  evening at 6:30 PM to receive input from the area residents via public testimony concerning amendments to the charter, which is revisited once per decade. Some of the “hot topics” seem to be district voting, appointments of department leaders such as police and fire department heads, as well as needs for certain commissions, such as two distinct ones for “liquor control.”

The community response was minimal, to say the least, as the pictures indicate, the commissioners out numbered the testifiers by better than three to one.
