POST DISASTER RECONSTRUCTION GUIDELINES AND PROTOCOLS FOR CONSERVATION OF COASTAL RESOURCES AND PROTECTION OF COASTAL COMMUNITIES, MAUI COUNTY, HAWAII, USA

Whew, that is saying a lot, but for two hours yesterday (2/25/14) afternoon, we were participating as stakeholders in this Maui County Planning Department ‘s first meeting of the Project Advisory Group representing KCA, but also all the island wide community associations. Others in the group included representatives from several county Departments including Planning, Public Works, Civil Defense and Parks, as well as the mayor’s Office; Cultural expert,;Media (Maui News Editor) visitor industry; developers; and AOAO’s . County Council was to be included, but seemingly encounter a scheduling conflict. Held at the County’s emergency operations center (EOC) in the basement of the county building, the meeting was facilitated by County Coastal Planner Jim Buika.
