As shown on Akaku, Maui Community Media, and extensively reported in last week’s Maui News, The County Planning Commission meeting was motivated boisterous, sometime cited as “out of order”, but the Commissioners certainly heard from the community, concerning Makena Resort’s Draft Environmental Assessment(DEA)
. The process of a DEA requires a 30 day submission period from any interested party, so KCA submitted ours to the three responsible parties yesterday to insure receipt by the 2/8/16 cut off date.

The EA says: “the expected buyer demographic profile includes a few local residents, with the majority of buyers being off-island. Based on the Applicant’s experience in developing similar projects, it is anticipated that approximately 90 percent of the units will be utilized as part-time residences.”
That doesn’t sound like what Maui needs right now in terms of development.
