This evening’s meeting was preceded by the first subcommittee gathering to address the Paniaka Pond
5/31/18 # kihei This evening, we participated at the monthly meeting at PWF’s classroom in Maalaea at 6:00 PM, as the revitalized Coalition is running regular monthly meetings, coordinated by Albert Perez. KCA is among the consistently participating members with Maui Tomorrow, DLNR, Makana Resorts and PWF. Additionally some nearby Makena residents participate, but not always the Homeowners Association leadership. A few others are more hit and miss in spite of recurring request for stable consistent participation.
KCA did not participate in the first subcommittee meeting, as we are already stretched with so many other community concerns. As you know we are 100% all volunteer, and have no paid staff, but we commend those who did participate, as the vast majority stayed on after that hour for the added ninety minutes of the Coalition meeting. We also do appreciate that part of the main meeting agenda included this subcommittee update. Our understanding was the focused on expectations, time lines, goals, basic research for the Cultural Impact Plan for the Paniaka Pond. If the plan is to restore it, we need to know what is was before.
In the main meeting the major focus gain was the Makena State Park Plan to address what is missing and what the Coalitions part is in completing the plan.
The next meeting is scheduled for July 12 at revised start time of 6:30 PM. again preceded by the subcommittee meeting.
