MAKING BIODIESEL, STARTING IN KIHEI

Many of you know biodiesel fuel utilizes used cooking oil and grease as the basis of its composition. Pacifc Biodiesel , http://www.biodiesel.com/ which earlier this month acquired Big Island Biodiesel, began operation twenty years ago on Maui, and has consistently grown.

But we see they continue with one their earliest endeavors, collecting cooking residue from retail businesses, diverting it from our landfill, to be a component in this fuel. On a recent morning, we see the process taking place outside the Kihei Outback restaurant on Lipoa.
