Over the years, KCA had advocated for a series of roundabouts along SKR where we have the three traffic signals spanning Pi’ikea to Lipoa. While we still believe this is the way to go, without the political way to make this progressive step, we commend DPW Director David Goode for an attempted improvement by synchronizing the three signal lights to expedite the traffic flow We are asking the community to monitor this busy series of intersections during seemingly the busiest time of the year between 12/15/14 and 1/15/15 and state your opinion by making a comment on this site. Please try to make valid comparisons for flow at similar time of prior years.

over days of observation, NO IMPROVEMENT. Lipoa to SKF light holding red longer even with little SKR cross traffic. I suggest an experiment shutting down the light at Tosoro altogether. Sign it is ok to pass on the right at the Azeka mauka driveway northbound to Pi’ikea (it is not clear it is ok now) Put the left turn light at Pi’ikea and the southbound SKR light on a simultaneous 15 second hold to allow traffic at the Azeka makai driveway to exit to SKR. I note that when the crosswalk light is being used at the Pi’ikea intersection, all traffic clears smoothly out of both the post office and Azeka makai driveways.
