As you may know, the government agency responsible for ensuring the safety of our water is the state Department of Health – Clean Water Branch (DOH-CWB). You may also know that it employs but a single individual to take water samples for testing for the entire island. KCA has asked for at least a second person for years to no avail.

Then there is the testing/evaluation. Many scientists agree the testing is too limited to truly expose all potential problems.

But there seems to be a way, IF you, your ohana or your friends step up to help expand the water sampling. And it has already proven successful in West Maui.

Hui O Ka Wai Ola (Association of the Living Waters – SEE http://www.huiokawaiola.com/) is a partnership of four entries that has been successfully doing comprehensive water sampling since 2016 on the West side, and it is now gearing up to take on our side of the island as well and gathering volunteers.

Just go to http://www.huiokawaiola.com/join-us.html, fill out the info, and submit.
