11/18/18 #kihei #education #kiheicharterschool
As required by KCA by-laws, this meeting on NOV 20 is when the membership elects the 2019 BOD. Everyone is invited (there are other topics on the agenda!) but only members vote. The stipulation calls for selection of between 8 and 20 directors, and this year we have 16 nominees for the one year term. Presently KCA has no term limits, so volunteer directors can be reelected for a lifetime if they volunteer and the membership approves them. Requirements to serve are minimal. The current 14 directors have been renominated along with two new candidates, Lee Myrick and Jim Murch.
After the election (which generally is done by acclimation) we welcome our first guest, Department of Education Complex Area Superintendent Kathleen Dimono, who will give a brief presentation and solicit the community’s opinions on schools in our area. We will also hear what is happening with the new High School and with the new and now operational Kihei Charter School building on upper Lipoa.
We are also fortunate to have long term community activist and educator Dick Mayor present to receive this year’s KCA Wiliwili Warrior award, as well as — Yep, educate the community — about what might have happened to our area with other development.
Maui Food Bank Donations, PLEASE! This it it for 2018.
