Department of Education Community (virtual) meeting on the new High School in North Kihei

Last evening at 5:00, Principal Halle Maxwell opened a Zoom meeting featuring a potential name for the Department of Education’s (DOE’s) new high school in Kihei. Additionally, historical and culturally-relevant information about South Maui and the actual land where the new high school is being built was presented by an established panel as shown below (in blue).  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

As far as we could determine, the total number of participants never reached 50 including the 10 participants. We believe this may have been in large part to the minimal community outreach before the meeting.
