The report on the past, present and future of Makena State Beach offered some hope and maybe some trepidation to those assembled last evening at the community meeting at the Charter School. The youthful optimistic and enthusiastic outlook of youth shone brightly, as  Maui Huliau  students Jai and Jason offered their short video to open the meeting before  Phillip Ohta explained the State Government’s outlook, as the District Superintendent, and Irene Bowie offered the peoples perspective for the Oneloa Coalition. One resounding note echoed by the adults was the lack of funding for the park

KCA announced they are now accepting applications for the 2013 Board of Directors. If you are interested and either did not secure an application, or were not in attendance, please give us a few days to post the new updated application of the website to replace the outdated 2010 version.

The September 18 membership meeting will focus on alternative transportation in South Maui. Look for a professional detailed report of the meeting in the 8/30/12 edition of the Maui Weekly.
