Are you celebrating New Year’s Eve on Maui? It’s a great place to ring in 2026! However, it is important to consider the local firework laws. The best way to enjoy spectacular fireworks on this island is to watch the official display that will take place at midnight at the Wailea beach – right behind the Grand Wailea Resort.

I have personally watched fireworks from here and it is always fun and safe, just make sure to be extra careful driving to and from the display as a lot of people will be out and about. You also don’t have to be at the Wailea beach to have a nice view. Most beaches along the Beach Walk in Wailea will offer great views of the official firework display. You will even see them in the distance from many beaches in Kihei.

Please keep in mind that on Maui, aerial fireworks are illegal without a permit and can result in a felony. Consumer fireworks such as speakers, on the other hand, are allowed on New Year’s Eve (Dec 31st) between 9PM and 1AM. The fines for breaking the rules are steep and the dangers are simply not worth it.

If you are interested in learning more about the specific laws and regulations or want to apply for a firework permit, Fire Prevention Bureau at 808-876-4690 or Fire.Prevention@co.maui.hi.us. Get more information on MauiCountry.org.
