Well over two hundred very animated folks packed the house (cafeteria) on Monday evening (1/23/12) at the new Pomaikai  Elementary School in Kahului for the State Department of Transporation’s meeting concerning proposals to correct problems with the present runway conditions at our airport. DOT Chief of Communications  Dan Meisenzahl offered a power point explaining the three options, but the crowd seemingly composed of visitor industry individuals, supported by the leadership of the various related organizations, strongly expressed one single message- do not ever close any runways.

County government was well represented, as Mayor Arakawa addressed the assembled, and more than half of Councilmembers were present. As a strong media presence was apparent, look to web and print reports for details.
