Aloha from the Kihei Community Association!

January Re-Cap 2008

2008 ‘s first KCA Community Meeting included about 50 Community members & guests for a new format as several board members contributed to directing the program.  After naming the 2008 elected officers, community announcements proceeded as board member Maury King advised of the planned Makena Past, Present, and Future Forum to be held on Jan. 21st at the Kihei Community Center, Kara Johanssen spoke for PWF’s Whale Day event next month at Kalama Park, Sue Kiang from the Parks Dept. offered an update on County Parks in Kihei, and Maui Police Officer Alan Brown informed on a recent large drug bust in Kihei.

Next the three new “super committees”, Service, Public Relations, and Community Design each offered a presentation of what they are trying to accomplish for 2008, and then proceed to areas around the room to receive input from the community on topics of concern in their areas.  The focus for 2008 will be as varied and creative as the interests of the board and community.

Please join the Kihei Community Association and support their efforts to bring topical information to the Kihei Community.  KCA next meeting will take place on Tuesday, February 21, 2008 at the Kihei Community Center.

The topic will be Volunteering Opportunities in South Maui. The doors will open at 6:00 PM for the refreshments and talk story with your South Maui Neighbors.  Meeting begins promptly at 6:30 PM!
