1/11/16 As previously reported, see https://gokihei.org/volunteer/kihei-high-school-groundbreaking the ground at the DOE’s Kihei High School site was broken by the usual team of dignitaries at a barren site midway between Kulanhakoi and Kaonoulu. The meeting was run by the very personable Dann Carlson, Assistant Superintendent, and participants included Governor David Ige, his lieutenant, out state legislators Sen. Roz Baker and Rep Kaniela Ing, as well as Sen Gil-Agaron. And from the County Mayor Alan Arakawa and Councilman Don Couch.
KCA was most proud of former Director Marina Batham current Director and leader of KHAT, Andrew Beerer and member Laura Marzkie who all participated strongly over more than a decade to reach this day for this Kihei school
We still would not venture a guess when the first students will walk through the high school doors at this school, as with numerous speakers, we heard no specific deadlines offered for any aspects .
