The County Council has nine elected members. By law there must be no more than one  residing within all nine Council districts, but all voters, regardless of where they reside, vote for all nine, as it is an “at large” system, Thus no matter where they reside, each member has equal say in what happens in each and all districts. So do not get suckered in with “I am not voting on that race as I do not live there!!”  That rep who lives on Molokai, or intown has an equal say on what happens in South Maui.

So pay attention to all the competitive races, determine who will best look our for you , and vote accordingly. Unsure how to do that? We have you covered on August 20 at our next candidate forum at the Pro Arts Playhouse – we will have candidates for West Maui, Kahului, Wailuku and Molokai. You can see and hear statements and answers to questions on topics important to the South Maui Community

As always no need to be a member to attend, but we strongly suggest you join with us  to widen and strengthen our voice.  Also please remember your nonperishable nutritious food product for the Maui Food Bank.
