We had an excellent workday on Monday at Kamaole 1. Thanks to all that participated. FYI Parks Dept- the work necessary to keep up the various sand trails and pathways from the Park to the beach is an ongoing challenge, but very necessary to protect the dunes and still offer a safe way for park users to access the beach and park amenities. The steps we put in last year are functioning great and no additional repairs or maintenance has been necessary at this more developed walkway.

Last week my wife and I walked from Wailea to the north end of Kamaole I, a great stroll. We were surprised to see the degree of erosion of Kamaole II at the south end of the beach. In the past year trees in that area have been trimmed and removed. These trees may have been holding soil in place that is now gone, to the point that South Kihei Road may be undermined. I think something needs to be done to rehabilitate the vegetation so that the beach and road are not destroyed.
