While many just call it “Big Beach and Little Beach,” or Makena State park, it is Oneloa State Park, a natural jewel in South Maui. The Oneloa Coalition was organized back in 2009 to “ensure the preservation of historical sites and natural ecology at this State Park,’ and KCA is among the named stakeholders. This afternoon’s (6/24/13) meeting in Wailuku discussed a number if items relevant to the park., including carrying capacity, parking, preservation, and potential partnership with Makena Resort. KCA has been absent from participation for some time, and recently KCA BOD member Daniel Kanehele, who has been an active participant representing Maui Cultural Land Trust, has been doing double duty representing KCA as well.
