Another bit of misinformation and alarm in Kihei (seems to be a lot of that around recently) was investigated by KCA before 10 o’clock this morning. Apparently instigated by some loud “crushing” sounds emanating at the lone remaining makai building of the long closed resort early Sunday, we heard the building was being demolished. While this seemed highly unlikely, we investigated to discover a single individual and his golf cart with a chipper, grinding some recently trimmed branches as the source of the noise. Sometimes sounds can be deceiving, too often the sounds are oral proclamations from misinformed individuals.
