UPDATE  8/22/19  MECO began work on mauka side of highway end of last year, & each time neighborhood guys think it is finally pau. the massive equipment rolls  down little Kaiola Pl in N Kihei. That was case again this morning.

Electrical towers are now being built in Kihei to connect with the Maui Electric Company (MECO) substation, which is still under construction. These towers run along Kaiola Place, makai the Pi’ilani Highway.

After the latest construction was in place and the wires connected, a large segment of North Kihei lost electrical service just before 5:30 PM, lasting about one hour.

Unfortunately, a while later there was a short reoccurrence.

So was this a coincidence? Or was it cause and effect?

Whichever it was, it was an inconvenient time for many residents. Hopefully, it is rectified now.
