TRAFFIC AND WILDFIRES IN SOUTH MAUI ADDRESSED NEXT TUESDAY

KCA is a membership organization. LOOK FOR AN UPCOMING MEMBERSHIP SPECIAL!!

We are a 100% volunteer, unfunded non-profit association. Our bylaws require six meetings of the general membership in alternating months beginning each January, on the third Tuesday of these months, and this has been followed since incorporation in 1960.

Very often these gatherings are referred to as community or public meetings because the Association has offered this to the community beyond those who step up to support KCA with membership on some level.

Unfortunately, too often we are told that some Kihei residents decide not to join the organization because they can get all the information we offer regardless.

We accept this with little complaint.

However, a downside is that some then say we do not speak for the community because so many residents are not members. LOOK AHEAD TO CHANGE THAT WITH A SPECIAL RATE.

Show up next Tuesday 3/19/19 to be informed, educated and offer input about two important community concerns: infrastructure planning in South Maui and fire prevention strategies in the Kihei/Wailea areas.

First, what do you think about infrastructure planning in South Maui? Not so good? Development continues and infrastructure lags way behind. Traffic gets worse; still no continuous sidewalks; kids walk alongside speeding vehicles; parents push strollers in the same manner; and bicycling is unsafe.

Lauren Armstrong, MPO Executive Director

Now, the Maui Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) wants your input on their latest plan. Hear what executive director Lauren Armstrong has to offer, and then offer her your opinion.

Second, a fire just needs three elements; oxygen, fuel, and a spark. We can do something about the last two, and the Maui Fire Department will offer us guidance on prudent actions.

Come hear from their Fire Prevention Bureau. The Fire Prevention Bureau works to abate fire and life-safety hazards before they can cause injury and property damage.
