While the State Dept of Education (DOE) bureaucrats continue their decade-long delay and take no action to provide the legally required safe pedestrian passage to the new high school in North Kihei, potentially preventing the school from opening, the high school’s local Maui principal, Halle Maxwell, is seeking input on the name for this school.
You can participate by indicating your choice of 5 names offered, but only have a single week to do so. She explains how the nominees were selected, and after a few questions, you can choose your preference from the most to least. While we have no position on a name, we found it curious that South Maui High did not make the cut, as we heard a lot of community voices for that.
