Roz Baker sent a strongly worded letter to the Land Use Commission chair requesting that the commission reexamine their decision to reclassify land for the Pi’ilani Promenade and take immediate steps correct the seemingly illegal development. Baker further requested that the Commission require the developer to cease all activity at the site and to meet with the community to hear and address their concerns.

Senator Baker also sent a letter to the Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) stating that a level “F” rating will provide an unacceptable level of gridlock on the Pi’ilani Highway, and that this project will violate HDOT’s obligation for adequate traffic flow on the Pi’ilani Highway.
