Second egress/ingress under construction to the Lipoa Development from the Pi’ilani Highway

Back before it was rebranded as Lipoa  https://www.lipoamaui.com/   this huge development project in central Kihei, mauka of the Pi’ilani Hwy,  it was the Research and Technology  (R & T) Park, the Kihei and Maui versions. But as the vision of it being  a research center faded, and commercial, residential and the school were constructed. the new name was Lipoa.

But much of the original plan remained in place, including a second access, North of Lipoa, and now it is being constructed in 2026. It will be a right in/right out only connection to the Pi’ilani Hwy, so once opened later this year, may minimally reduce congestion at the main Lipoa Pky intersection. Of course it will offer no relief to the overall congestion of that highway, and several months of more congestion in Northbound lanes with no shoulder opposite a similar intersection at Waipuilani
