For several years the residents of Kamau’u have voiced their displeasure being forcibly limited in an emergency escape route to driving toward the ocean to reach a way out on SKR. It was a campaign issue in the upcoming mayoral election back in 2010.

But finally there is funding in the budget to open the dead end to the NSCR corridor, and pave the road south the two blocks to Waipuilani, offring this long sought escape to the residents.

This week we noted a large amount of wild overgrowth was moved out of the “intersection,” exposing the boulders closing off the road, but are not clear is is the very beginning of this project.

We have sent an inquiry to DPW for clarification. Stay tuned.
