Why would this group concerned with flooding in Kihei, and the related damage to the near shore waters of South Maui, conduct these two meetings in Kula? Maybe because they are looking at the source of the problem, rather than the result? Maybe they are looking at Hawaiian ahupua’a (mountains to sea) approach? Regardless, the meetings are back to back this Thursday 12/8/11 at the Kula Community Center. The steering committee meets from 1-3 PM, immediately followed by the Advisory Group Meeting, 3-5 PM, and both are open to the public.
