A glaring lack of attendance as nationally renowned street planning expert Dan Burden offered his “Safe Routes to Schools” presentation in Kihei on Thursday evening (2/16/12) concerned the few who did attend. The staffs of the  Nutritional & Physical Activities Coalition (NPAC), who arranged the presentation, and  County Public Works (DPW) who observed,  outnumbered the public in attendance.

The power point presentation offered numerous techniques which could improve the safety of transporting kekei to schools in general, and specifically the Kamali’i school where presentation was offered, as well as the proposed new Kihei High School.
