The KCA has worked for years with the Parks Dept to help improve Kalama Park in Kihei. This 36 acre park is the center of Kihei and much appreciated for the varied amenities it offers the public. The Parks Dept is currently completing the installation of a lighted walking trail around the park and it is as part of that project that the KCA came up with another suggestion. The new pedestrian trail offers the opportunity for the public to spend additional time strolling through the park grounds but there are limited places to stop and enjoy the setting. KCA has purchased 10 park benches that will be installed along the pedestrian trail. These benches are of the same design as the new picnic tables recently purchased by the Parks Dept. and installed at Kamaole Beach Park II. KCA is proud to announce that the Maui County Council has unanimously accepted the donation of these 10 benches from the KCA by resolution.
KCA also wishes to thank the local donors that have stepped up to help us fund this purchase and we wish to thank Stuart Funke-d’Egnuff from Tri-Isle RC&D for his efforts to facilitate the acceptance of the donation by the Maui County Council.
