8/31/24 #kihei

We heard so much confusion and misinformation about our County Council members representing a district, where many people are missing the fact that the County legislature is an at-large system (all members are elected by all residents). So in our next forum looking at candidates for the State legislature on September 17, the third Tuesday, at 6:30 PM, we find a Senator and a Representative who DO in fact represent our area in particular and who differ by political party. We have the Democratic incumbents, Senator Angus McKelvey and Representative Terez Amato, challenged by Republicans Sheila Walker for Senate, and Aileen Acain for House.

Again this public membership meeting will be head at the Pro Arts Playhouse in Azeka (makai) Plaza, but membership is not required to attend. As an all volunteer unfunded non profit membership organization, we at times are asked why should I join if I can attend your meetings anyway.  Of course if there are insufficient members to run the organization, it will dissolve, and there will be no meetings and no forums. But if that is not enough reason to join, check this out: If you join now, you will receive a $35 credit toward an admission ticket for any Pro Arts Playhouse event.

Also we continue our ongoing  Maui Food Bank drive so please remember to bring a nutritious non perishable food  contribution, as the need is greater now than ever.
