Following opening announcements by board secretary Steve Cordova, President Jon Miller began the panel discussions with honored guests Anna Foust and Stan Goosby focusing mostly on potential Tsunami effects on South Maui. A very engaged audience soon expressed their concern with a series of inqueries and comments concerning last weeks events and the county’s handling of the emergency situation. Both agencies, Pacific Disaster Center and County Civil Defense provided vast amounts of material for members to take home to be better prepared for the next emergency. A professional report on the meeting will appear in 3/24/11 edition of the The Maui Weekly. The April 19 meeting will focus on South Maui’s projected growth and developmnt and their effect on the already overburdened schools in Kihei. Please remember the food bank. Mahalo.
