Around noon yesterday (9/12/2025) the barricades came down to officially unveil the “new” complete street, Pi‘ikea Road. The year long closure makai of the roundabout caused all to travel about a block either North or South to move between South Kihei Road and Liloa.
Road is completely open, but expect some snarls as housing construction continues
Sidewalks along both sides of the road may encourage more walking in the area, reducing vehicle traffic
Having bike lanes on both sides adds some connectivity with paths on Liloa at the roundabout leading to the elementary and middle schools at Lipoa
Ultimately having this improved transportation infrastructure to accompany these new affordable rental units can make this a better place for new and current residents
